Being an ally can mean many different things, but for this years Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples day on May 5th, being an ally meant walking in step with members of the Nez Perce Tribe. Sponsored by ‘Úuyit Kímti- the Women’s Outreach Program on the Nez Perce reservation, the walk was flanked by red dresses and symbols of those lost to raise awareness regarding the many sisters and brothers that have gone missing or found murdered. We stand with our brothers and sisters and vow that those lost will not be forgotten.
YWCA staff wore blue today for Child Abuse Prevention Month and be on the look out for blue pinwheels around the community. You can get more information from the National Child Abuse Prevention Resource Center.
Spring has sprung and so have the teal ribbons all across the Valley in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Thanks to our volunteers from the Dirty 40 Motor Society and staff for taking time out of their day to put up ribbons around main street and the court house. Keep an eye out for ribbons in Lewis, Idaho and Clearwater county as well as Asotin and Garfield county, thanks to our partner agency at QBH and the Community Sexual Assault Program. Together we can raise awareness, change attitudes and help prevent sexual assault!
