MMIW Walk for Awareness
Being an ally can mean many different things, but for this years Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples day on May 5th, being an ally meant walking in step with members of the Nez Perce Tribe. Sponsored by ‘Úuyit Kímti- the Women’s Outreach Program on the Nez Perce reservation, the walk was flanked by red dresses and symbols of those lost to raise awareness regarding the many sisters and brothers that have gone missing or found murdered. We stand with our brothers and sisters and vow that those lost will not be forgotten.
Child Abuse Prevention
YWCA staff wore blue today for Child Abuse Prevention Month and be on the look out for blue pinwheels around the community. You can get more information from the National Child Abuse Prevention Resource Center.
