While the safety of staff, clients, volunteers, and supporters is our primary concern, we are also developing plans to minimize interruptions to our many direct services, upon which so many individuals and families rely, especially during this difficult time.

Here are some of the ways YWCA of Lewiston – Clarkston is responding:

-In order to support community efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 and minimize its threat, the YWCA main office will be closed to the public. During business hours, questions about YWCA services can be directed to our office phone: 208-743-1535

-Anyone who has concerns relating to domestic violence or sexual assault can call the 24-hour YWCA crisis line at 208-746-9655 or 1800-669-3176.  Social Distancing can increase risk for people in abusive relationships.  Please call us to speak with  an advocate.

-We will continue to provide essential services, including operation of our crisis line, domestic violence shelter, and emergency housing program, to the greatest extent possible.

-Cleaning sprays, wipes, and alcohol-based hand sanitizers have been distributed throughout YWCA sites and are being used to disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in the offices and common areas. Staff are taking extra precautions cleaning and sanitizing YWCA sites for participants and staff.

-YWCA staff who are able to telecommute have been encouraged to do so, with non-essential meetings and events conducted virtually or postponed.

-Weekly Thursday night support groups have been suspended.

This is a time filled with a great deal of challenge and uncertainty. Fortunately, our community is resourceful, resilient, and ready to work together to address the impact of this public health threat.

YWCA’s work to create equity and justice for all people matters now more than ever before. As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we too may adjust our approach and response. Until then, we will continue to follow the current guidelines, closely monitor the situation, and update you with any changes to our operations.

Current Cancellations:

In the interest of public health, we have decided to cancel some of our upcoming events.

Annual Meeting (Wednesday, 3/18/20) will be canceled.  We will keep you updated on how members can vote.

We are also limiting exposure of our staff and clients by canceling Support Group.  We will continue to analyze the current state of events, and will notify individuals when we return to our normal schedule.

Book Club that was scheduled for Thursday (3/19/20) will be cancelled.

Dog Obedience Classes (session Feb 12-April 1) are being postponed until further notice.  We are contacting registrants in this class to discuss this change.  We will also be contacting registrants for the class beginning April 15 to discuss how this change will affect the start date of that class.
